The mother-daughter epic and generational conflict transforms into a tragicomic interrogation of artistry itself. A dark, contemporary adaptation with an edge.
Mother-daughter; teacher-student; older actress-younger actress: generational conflicts crop up in multiple forms in this Autumn Sonata. The three actresses try to translate the film to the stage, but time and again real life seeps through. Scarlet was really Carly and Eurudike's student at drama school. In Autumn Sonata, they offer an insight into what happens to power structures when positions shift.
